How to Remove Pet Odors From Furniture Naturally

Pet odors can slowly build up in furniture and make a home feel unclean, even when everything looks tidy. These smells often come from oils, saliva, and moisture trapped deep in fabrics. The good news is that natural methods can be very effective.

Baking soda is one of the best natural odor absorbers. Sprinkle it generously over the furniture and let it sit for several hours or overnight. Then vacuum thoroughly to remove both the powder and the trapped odors.

White vinegar is another powerful option. Mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Lightly mist the surface of the furniture, avoiding over-saturation. As the vinegar dries, it neutralizes odors rather than masking them.

For a fresh scent, you can add a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar solution. Lavender or lemon works well, but this step is optional and should be tested on a small area first.

Sunlight and airflow also play an important role. If possible, place cushions near an open window or outside in indirect sunlight. Fresh air helps break down lingering smells naturally.

Regular cleaning and quick response to accidents will prevent odors from becoming permanent. With consistent care, furniture can stay fresh even in homes with pets.
